Srinagar is the summer capital city of Jammu and Kashmir . Srinagar is 300 Km from Jammu. Srinagar has its own airport. Nearest Railway station is Udhampur which is 240 Kms from Srinagar. It lies on the banks of river Jhelum which is the tributary of rives Indus. Attraction in Srinagar is Shikara ride in Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, its houseboats. Srinagar is also know for Kashmiri handicrafts,Carpets, dry fruits.

Gulmarg is famous tourist destination and is 55 Kms from Capital city Srinagar and located at a height of 2730 m. It gets heavy snow in winter and famous for winter sports. Gulmarg is a huge cup shaped lush and green meadow with slopes where the silence is broken only by the tinkle of cowbells. Gondola is one of the highest and largest ropeways in Asia and one of the main attractions in Gulmarg. It has a total aerial distance of 5 kms. Toursits coming here can indulge in trekking, Horse riding.

Pahalgam one of the beautiful places in world is at a distance of 95 Kms from Srinagar. Itis located at a height of 2130m. River Lidder is flowing through the town of Pahalgam and its torrential flow of water  enriches the breathtaking beauty of the Valley. White water rafting in river Lidder is the main attraction. The Pahalgam Valley presents awesome look due to its healthy climate, snow clad mountains, pine forests and vast meadows and pastures. Pahalgam is also the base camp for annual Amarnath Yatra. Chandanwari which is 16 Km from Pahalgam is the starting point of Yatra. Tourists coming here can indulge in Horse riding, Snow skiing, trekking,camping  and Golf courses.  Best season to visit pahalgam is March to November.


Sonamarg

Sonamarg (meadow of flower) is 85 Kms from capital city Srinagar and located at height of 2740 m. It is major attraction of North Kashmir. Sonamarg has flower carpeted meadows and fields and surrounded by magnificient glaciers , pleateaus and snowfields. Sonamarg is open for traffic in April due to heavy snow in winter months. Sonamarg is also known as gateway to Ladakh. Zojilla pass is one of the highest passes for road transport and connects Ladah region with Kashmir lies 15 kms from here. Baltal which is base camp of Annual Amarnath Yatra is 15 Km east of Sonamarg.

Attractions in Kukernag: Gardens, Spring Water

Kokernag lies 70 Km from Capital city and at a heiht of approx 2000m. It is famous for largest fresh water spring of Kashmir. Its Spring water has many digestive and medicinal curative properties. Koker means 'fowl' and nag means 'serpent'. The spring gushes out of the base of a thickly wooded hill from where it divides into channels, which resembles to the claw-foot of a hen, hence its name.

Verinag is approx. 78 Kms from Srinagar city. Verinag lies at the entry of kashmir valey right after crossing Jawahar Tunnel. Major attraction of Verinag is its spring .  The Mughal Emperor Jehangir constructed an octagonal tank of sculptured stones around the spring for which carvers for were brought from Iran. There is beautiful garden next to the spring. Spring and gardens were built by Mughal emperors. Spring is at the exact center is 50 ft deep under water where water continously comes up.


Yusmarg

Yusmarg is approx. 47 km from the Srinagar city. It takes two hour drive to thee place which is an enjoyment itself.  Yusmarg is the perfect place to go for a picnic and excursion since it is very near to Srinagar. It has the dense forests full of pine trees and grassy pastures stretching to acres of land. The backdrop of splendid snow capped mountains will leave you speechless. Doodganga a river flows through this meadow. Yusmarg is the place to be, specially for the lovers with long walks in picturesque pastures.

Patnitop is a famous hilltop tourist destination and lies 110 Km from Jammu. It is on the way on Jammu - Srinagar national highway. It is located at a height of 2024 m. Patnitop is engulfed in thick Cedar/Deodhar forests. Patnitop is a    beautiful picnic spot with thick pine forests, natural charm and lush green cover. One can have peaceful walks amid breathtaking views of the mountainscape of the Chenab basin. In winter, the resort gets heavy snow and provides opportunities for various snow games including skiing. Sanasar, also called mini Gulmarg is 20 km away from patnitop. Sanasar  is a cup shaped meadow surrounded by gigantic conifers.

Jammu is the winter capital of the J&K state and also known as "City of Temples". It is the winter capital of the state. It has many temples and shrines. Jammu is known for its landscapes, Dogra culture, ancient temples, Mubarak mandi palace, Raghunath temple, museums, gardens and forts. Vaishno Devi shrine which lies in Jammu Division attracts millions of devotees. Pilgrims intend to visit Vaishno Devi reach Jammu via Train or Air first, as Katra  doesn't have any Air or Rail connectivity.

Katra Town which is  lying in the foot of Trikuta Mountains is approx. 50 Kms from Jammu City and it is the base camp for the  shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. Shrine is at a distance of 13 Kms  on foot from Katra on a  well laid footpath. Every year, more than 10 million pilgrims reach Katra for Mata Darshans. The shrine is situated at 5200 ft height has been a beacon of faith and fulfilment to millions of devotees from all over the world. The shrine of Mata Vaishno devi is second largest visited Hindu Shrine after Tirupati Venkteswara Temple. It is maintained by Shri Mata Vaishno devi shrine board.
